The mission of the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society (JRGOS) is to increase diversity within the orthopaedic profession and promote the highest quality musculoskeletal care for all people. This society was named after America's first black orthopaedic surgeon. Founded in 1998.
Founded in 2004 by orthopaedic surgeons working collaboratively with academic institutions, community surgeons, and industry to address the dearth of women and underrepresented minorities (URMs) in orthopaedic surgery.

Building the pipeline for women in engineering and medicine and founded in 2009. Named in honor of Dr. Jacquelin Perry, who was among the first women certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society
Founded in 1983 as a support and networking group for the growing number of women orthopaedic surgeons. The women at the first meeting felt that there were many common problems confronting them, which could best be solved by pooling resources.

The Arthur L. Garnes Society is committed to fostering mentorship, collaboration, and fellowship among Black, African-American, and other under-represented in medicine in plastic & reconstructive surgery. Dr. Garnes was the first Black Chairman of plastic surgery. Founded in 2019.
